Most of us tend to neglect skin care. Claiming that we do not have enough time to do it properly, or just because we’re too lazy to learn the proper steps. But you see, our skin is supposed to last a lifetime. Yes of course, cells keep on rejuvenating, and in a way, our face skin is changing every once in a while. Nonetheless, pre-aging can occur if some important skin care steps are not being applied. Also, when we are given the chance of having a much more healthier and fresh look, why would we turn it down? I’ve gathered below some of the basics of skin care, in the hopes of helping you take better care of your skin, enjoy!

  1. Clean your brushes

Makeup brushes can accumulate germs and bacteria. And you don’t want that near your face, do you? That’s why you should clean your brushes at least once each two weeks, if you don’t use makeup regularly, or once every week if you put on makeup daily. If you’d like me to write a post specifically on how to do this, let me know in the comment section below!

  1. Sleep well

I might be mentioning this in most of my posts! That just shows how important it is! Read more about the perks of getting enough sleep in 7 Healthy Habits You Should Start Doing Now!

  1. Stay hydrated

Another point you can learn more about in 7 Healthy Habits You Should Start Doing Now. But in short, drinking water gives your skin a radiant glow, and prevents the appearance of wrinkles.

  1. Do not, ever, sleep, with your makeup on

No matter what the excuse is, sleeping with your makeup on will never be to your benefit! First of all, that will make you age way sooner. And seriously, who wants that? Also, makeup will clog your pores and that will lead to the appearance of blackheads.

  1. Cleanse your face

To avoid any confusion this differs from #4. Take off your makeup using a makeup remover and cleanse your face afterwards to get rid of the remaining impurities and makeup traces. And even if you weren’t wearing any makeup in the first place, cleansing your face is essential. It is recommended to wash your face twice a day: in the morning and before going to bed at night.

  1. Exfoliate weekly

Take the time to exfoliate your skin once or twice a week. This will allow your skin to be more radiant and healthy by removing the accumulated dead skin. Exfoliating also helps you deal with skin dryness, blemishes, clogged pores, and brown spots.

  1. Tone

So what’s so special about this step, so often skipped? Well, facial toner balances your skin’s pH. It removes traces of oil and shrinks the appearance of pores. Besides making your complexion look better, this will also reduce the penetration of impurities into your skin.

  1. Moisturize

Now while hydrating your cells from the inside (by drinking water) is extremely important, a little bit of external help won’t hurt anyone. On the contrary, it is very beneficial. You might have guessed it already- Yes, I’m talking about moisturizers. First, they help boost your healthy glow. They also have huge anti-aging benefits since they help skin cells rapidly repair themselves. It is also believed that skipping the moisturizing phase, when it comes to taking care of your skin, may aggravate your acne.

  1. Use SPF (Sun Protection Factor AKA sunscreen)

Being tanned, having rosy cheeks, etc. is all very tempting. However, do not underestimate the damage that the sun can cause to your skin. Pre-mature aging, reduced skin elasticity, skin dryness, and wrinkles are just few examples. It’s just not worth it. Also, it is way easier to protect our skin from UVB rays nowadays as a wide range of daily used products come with SPF: moisturizers, foundations, concealers, pressed powder, and the list goes on.

  1. Treat your skin with some extras

Now if you do have the time for some extras every now and then, I strongly recommend masks, serums, facial massages with oils, and anything that can help you in taking better care of your skin. Just make sure to use products that suit your skin type!

And that’s it for this post! I hope you enjoyed reading it and that you’ll enjoy applying all of these tips! If you have other skin care tips that you’d like to share with us, feel free to do so in the comment section below!

Have a nice day! xx
